ADA recommends taking in 25-30 grams of fiber per day. If you are looking to increase your intake of fiber, dont do it all at once! It can make you very uncomfortable! Try to increase slowly by increasing 5 grams per week until you hit 25-30 grams per day.
Try this strategy to help keep desserts lowfat and high in fiber:
- baked apples or bananas sprinkled w/ cinnamon
- fresh fruit cup
- brown bread or rice pudding made w/ skim milk
- oatmeal cookies (dont forget the raisins)
